Bug Description

After recent package upgrade on Ubuntu Xenial Xerus 16.04 monitor stops receiving signal in a moment when login screen should appear. I still heard a sound of OS loaded (drums). I'm using AMD A6-3650 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics × 4. Launching OS via safe mode works fine with video provided by "Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.8, 128 bits)".
Version of xserver-xorg-video-ati:
1:7.7.0-1 amd64
Also:
- Purge and reinstalling xserver-xorg-video-ati package not helping.
- Booting from "Live USB" with Ubuntu 16.04 beta2 results in same effect after choosing "Try Ubuntu" option.
Workaround:
- Install Ubuntu 15.10 or earlier.

Foghrye4, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

Could you please run the following command once from a terminal by ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information:
apport-collect -p xorg 1568243

When reporting xorg related bugs in the future, please do so via the above method. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Foghrye4, to clarify, after which package update specifically in 16.04 did this issue start to occur?

Foghyre4, as per http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3929#bios an update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (F4). When you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the situation?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your help.
