Bug Description

I upgraded from 12.04.03 to 14.04.03. After the update both monitors can only be configured 1024 x 768 (4: 3). If I change the display settings for the second monitor, just as it had in 12.04: 1360 x 768 (16: 9) Ubuntu claim with the following error:

"No se pudo aplicar la configuración seleccionada para las pantallas

El tamaño requerido (2384, 768) excede el límite de hardware 3D (2048, 2048).
Debe reorganizar la pantalla para que quepa dentro de un cuadrado de (2048, 2048)."

And later:

"Fallo al aplicar la configuración: %s

Se alcanzó el tiempo de expiración"

BrOne, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=1849084&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=2104 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (F.07). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

Unfortunately on my notebook nx6325 I have only installed Ubuntu, I don't have a dual boot with Windows. Then I do not have to update the BIOS because the update program (.exe.) only runs on Windows.

By the way, this problem didn't exist in version 12.04.03 . It appeared after upgrade to the version 14.04.03. In 12.04.03 version I could see both monitors with the corresponding resolution (1360 x 768 (16: 9) for my AOC monitor and 1024 x 768 (4: 3) for the notebook monitor).

Therefore, I think it should not be a problem for updating the BIOS.

Apparently, Unity 2D is no longer available after upgrade to 14.04. So the Radeon Xpress 200M video chip from nx6325 don't support the resolution 1366 x 768 (16: 9) with Unity 3D. If anyone can include Unity 2D to 14.04 release, please help me. For now, the only solution to use 1366 x 768 resolution on the second monitor is login Ubuntu in metacity mode.
