Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

This is the successor to bug 65185

Reported with Gutsy/amd64 Beta on my MacBook C2D 2007 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/AppleMacBook2007

X correctly detects the available resoltions, without 915resolution, but the default is 1024x768, rather than 1280x800.

I had a similar problem yesterday when installing kubuntu 7.10 beta on my second gen, early 2006 C2D macbook. The proper resolution is able to be set but initial resolution is only 1024x768. part of the reason I consider this a bug is that it is properly detected in gnome with ubuntu 7.10 tribe 5 and previous.

This also happened on my HP dv2500t with Intel GMA 965 video. Changing the list of resolutions in xorg.conf from simply "1024x768" to "1280x800" "1280x768" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" fixes it. No 915resolution needed.

I have a similar problem. No 915resolution isn't needed anymore and xrandr lists the native resolution of 1366x768 but 1024x768 is used on start and saved in xorg.conf. This happens since changing from i810 to intel driver in Gutsy. It is no problem to change to the correct resolution with "Screen Resolution" but xorg.conf has to be changed too. Before change to Intel driver the correct native resolution was saved in xorg.conf so maybe it is partly Intel driver related, at least the combination of Xorg with the driver.

This seems to be a duplicate of bug 144956. That problem was fixed shortly after the release of Gutsy Beta.
Could you please test again with the Release Candidate version?

Works fine for me too since RC with Sony TX2 and 1366x768 and external 1680x1050. Great job.
