Bug Description

Laptop and external display do not always refresh properly, typically leaving previous content when switching desktops or when changing window focus. Other times not all the content is rendered until the cursor is swiped through this region or a window is selected, revealing the actual content.

Chris Capobianco, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_ROG_G751JM/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (206). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hello Christopher,

I updated the BIOS to the latest version, however the problem still
persists though it is much less pronounced and occurs less frequently.

Here is the output from the commands:

sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

G751JM.206
09/15/2014

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

Thank You,

Chris Capobianco

Chris Capobianco, to see if this is already resolved in a later version of Ubuntu, could you please test http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise to the results?
