Bug Description

When updated to release 14.04 LTS something is not working properly, the PC freezes after login and after a few minutes the screen shows crazy colors. I tried it a lot of times, downloading the iso file a few times to check if anything got corrupted. I had to reinstall release 12.04 LTS back. Last note, release 14 freezes even when I lounch live CD, not only installing.

Gustavo Fumes Boni, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1406804

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Gustavo Fumes Boni, as per http://www.asus.com/in/Motherboards/M2N68AM_SE2/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1801). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.
