Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

GDM loads with smaller resolution than the native 1680x1050.
After logged in, resolution changes to the correct one.
This is happening with gutsy tribe5 daily upgraded.

I can confirm this for my gutsy.

The keyboard layout is also incorrect.

In GNOME I use an AZERTY keyboard layout with 1440x900 screen resolution.

GDM uses a QUERTY layout with the maximum layout > 1440x900. There doesn't seem to be a way to make GDM use the GNOME settings.

Can you check and see if this is occurring with the latest Gutsy? I've committed several fixes to the resolution autodetection, and one may have addressed this issue already.

jclemon, you may be right.

Could those experiencing this issue try the workaround mentioned in that bug? Comment out the Virtual line and see if gdm takes the right resolution after that. If so, then this bug can be marked a dupe of that one, since it has more detailed info.

After a fresh install both GDM and X load with correct resolution.
On another partition, with feisty upgrade to gutsy I had to remove all entries from xorg.conf except the correct one in order to make it load correctly.

I don't have that partition anymore so I can't keep testing it.
