The release version of Ubuntu 5.04 Hoary Live CD still exhibits the exactly the
same behaviour.

Breezy Live CD exhibits the same behaviour.
But booting with parameter live-expert and inputing the horizontal sinc and vert
refresh (taken from xf86Config-4 in Warty) makes it all better again :)

Please provide the requested information; we need it in order to fix the bug

I am trying to figure out how to do that... My floppy wont mount properly with
the LiveCD.. I can't copy the files anywhere.
An email with precise instructions would be helpful :)

Cool.. now how do I run the browser without a GUI?

You said in comment #5 that you were able to get X running using expert mode.

Ok I'll do that... Sorry, I assumed a "Failed Start", comment #6, meant the
initial failure :)

No, those are the logs from the successful startup.

Is there someone who can help you to send us the logs from the failed start?
This will require command line skills.

Alternatively, explain the problem with your floppy and maybe we can get that

Ok ... The floppy works under Warty just fine from the command line. Under the
liveCD it appears to work (light comes on) but no activity happens. If you could
let me know the exact commands to mount and copy to the floppy using LiveCD I
can do this :)

We can't do this step-by-step; there are too many other bugs to deal with. If
you can't find someone locally who can help you get the files, try asking on one
of the support channels or forums.

Sadly it still doesn't work... Same error.
The problem lies with the HorizSync and VertRefresh settings. On my
system they MUST be 28-79 and 43-72 respectively.

Hi Mike,

Can we have another go at getting this debugging info?

You can boot with a Dapper Live CD right? (with broken X). Do you have net access on the machine? If so please try the following:

sudo apt-get install lynx
lynx

That will start a text-based web browser. You can then navigate to this page (write down the URL on paper) and upload the files as attachments (launchpad will prompt you to log in). The browser is fairly easy to use -- type 'g' to Go to a URL and then use the arrow keys to navigate.

I've also set up a wiki page that will be easier to use if launchpad should prove problematic, at http://www.omma.net/scratch. That will let you upload the files more easily and you can grab them from there later.

So this is a bit of an experiment in bug triaging; I'm interested to see if it works for you :)
