Bug Description

I select "new folder", window appears, but cannot enter name in text box to create new folder.

It seems that some users have this problem, some not. XFE has no variants, so I'm guessing the problem arises within Ubuntu and variations in Ubuntu setup.

Roger Davis, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=Intel%C2%AE+Desktop+Board+DZ77BH-55K an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (0100). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

I'm confused by this. The fix was a setting problem, and I was informed a long time ago. Moribius1 nailed it on July 21st, in the page http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2235440&p=13078735#post13078735 , also referencing https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfe/+bug/1029256 . Fixed by : System Settings > Language Support > Keyboard Input Method System > From IBUS to None: Apparently a setting changed in 14.04 defaults from earlier Ubuntu versions?

It works fine now, just rechecked it. Definitely NOT a BIOS problem.

I don't have the latest BIOS, but I also don't know of any bugs that affect operations. Everything seems to work fine. Where can I see info on the Ubuntu problems with this BIOS?

Just for reference, here is the output from the command sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date :
