Bug Description

hoping to get Precise Pangolin 12.04 LT Xubuntu running dual displays, on VGA (CRT) the other smart tv via HDMI.
as soon as xu goes to login screen I lose DVI to HDMI connection.
Other distros, sparky, mint, puppy all work fine with dual display

I run nvidia 173 on a nv34 video card
/0/100/b/0 display NV34 [GeForce FX 5200]
/0/100/e bridge nForce3 250Gb PCI-to-PCI Bridge
3.2.0-60-generic #91-Ubuntu SMP Wed Feb 19 03:54:44 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
nvidia config does not show a second display

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1311706/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Galen Thurber, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. 12.04.4 reached EOL on August 2014. For more on this please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases .

Is this an issue in a supported release?

Changed in xorg (Ubuntu):
