You seem to mention that xorg does not automatically find the proper configuration however "some computers" is not specific. Thank you for your report.

It is necessary to go back to the true console, open nano with sudo priveleges and edit the xorg.conf file: Insert the following lines into the Monitor section: HorizSync 36-52 VertRefresh 36-60 And on some computers eliminate all resolutions except "640x480".
