Bug Description

The Alternate installation disc seems to install fine for Saucy, but when it boots, only the consoles are available. The graphics get stopped at the text-based splash screen. What logs or data need to be collected?

What needs to be collected and how can I collect it manually?

xdiagnose seems not to run because launchpad's gimmicks don't work in lynx. Eventually the apport-collect process gets stuck at a window with lots of noise about REFERER headers and a message about IFRAME javascript:void((0)) at the bottom. Without graphics, a graphical browser like Firefox is not available, only ones like Lynx. The launchpad buttons are not so lynx-friendly but usable anyway. In general, it is good practice to make the pages work in pure HTML+CSS to also avoid other accessibility problems.

A work-around was to install openssh-server and tunnel X using ssh. That allowed apport-collect to run Firefox which Launchpad seems to support.

Lars Noodén, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Thank you for your understanding.
