Bug Description

Hello

I had lots of problems (and lots of lost data) because of this bug in 12.04:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/xorg-server/+bug/956071

Even after that I've had an occasional Unity/Xorg crash. And it's very inconvenient every time since I always loose work when working in applications that can't auto-save etc.

Now I had my first crash in 12.10 and it generated a crash-file in /var/crash:

-rw-r----- 1 root whoopsie 5718069 okt 22 16:14 _usr_bin_Xorg.0.crash

I'm attaching this crash file.

One more crash, now with a crash file. Happened when I was docked and using an external monitor. Then I opened the laptop and the system crashed.

On average, two crashes a week.

Latest added this in Xorg.0.log before giving up.

So it seems to be related to the Intel driver, but I fail to understand what no space left is this about. It is probably something related to the graphics card (Intel Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub).

Interesting, I had like 2-5 crashes every week until I upgraded from 4GB to 8GB RAM. No crashes since (+1 month now). I also use a lot of RAM since I always have a virtual machine running.

We're closing this bug since there has not been a response from the original reporter. However, the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. If you're not the original reporter, we'd prefer you file a new bug report.

Some tips:

  * Report X.org bugs via the command: `ubuntu-bug xorg`

  * Test against the latest development Ubuntu. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/
Bugs marked as affecting the development version tend to get priority attention.

  * The `xdiagnose` utility has functionality for enabling debugging and
analyzing a few common X problems.

  * Tag your bugs with the Ubuntu versions you have reproduced the issue in.

  * See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting for tips on writing good bug reports.
