Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

This bug is being referred from the LibreOffice bugtracker (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37712) as Xorg seems to crash first.

Bug description: I tried to open an odt-file in LibreOffice Writer. The file is being displayed for a few seconds, but then crashes and also crashes XWindows in Ubuntu. The system comes back to the login screen.
Unfortunately, I cannot attach the file to this bug report. However, I can send the file via email on request. The file makes heavy usage of Graphite smart fonts and Zotero bibliographic references. The last action which I performed were adding references in the document (and I am happy that I also could save the file first) right before it crashed.

Reproducible: Always

System: Ubuntu 10.10, gnome2, German UI, Intel 32-bit
I experienced this crash with several versions of LibreOffice or OpenOffice.org:
LO 3.3.2 from the LibreOffice PPA
LO 3.4rc2 from the LibreOffice website
OOo 3.3. from OpenOffice.org website
OOo 3.4Beta from OpenOffice.org website

Clarification: X crashes first and then takes LibreOffice down with it.

Also : Not reproducable on Natty with my hardware (nvidia). The Acer Travelmate here seems to have Intel graphics instead.

Possible workaround: increase video memory in Bios Setup.
The issue disappeared for me.

Aldi, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given you already have done this in a prior release, performing this on a release prior to Trusty would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
