Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core

When maximizing a konsole window, x freezes. It does no matter if the meximize happens by pressing the maximize button, or double-clicking the titlebar.

Happens since I upgraded to Natty today. Maverick did not have it.

Here some people report the same:

Looks like downgrading xorg-server from 1.10 to 1.9 solves the problem.

I'm suffering exactly the same problem with NVIDIA graphics on Natty. Googling:-

NVIDIA Konsole crash

it would appear this problem has been around for some time on other KDE distros - with no real solution in sight other than a very crude and tricky xserver downgrade.

This is pretty serious because if effectively renders Kubuntu useless for NVIDIA users.

Best wishes, G

Maybe we could have a statement from Ubuntu about this rather serious issue. xterm is not so funny to use if you are used to konsole.

Same for me here. It doesn't happen on maximize though, it happens any time the window is resized. For now, I have only found Konsole that caused the problem.

Since a large part of my work implies logging into multiple servers at the same time with ssh, this is quite critical for me. Also hardware is company supplied, and therefore there is nothing I can do about it.

Distro-Upgraded Kubuntu 10.10 (64 bit) to 11.04 when I open the Konsole and click the Maximize gadget the screen flashes and the mouse pointer freezes. After a few seconds the mouse pointer moves but neither buttons nor the mouse wheel have any effect.
