In fact, this can no longer be validly called an "MS" way -- if your Windows 7 install disk has drivers for your video card, it will use correct DPI (rounded down to increments of 25%) automatically, by default! We used to have the same here with Xorg.

We need an xorg.conf flag -- for example, NVIDIA has "UseEDIDDpi".

Also, to note: I don't have any specific definition of "correct" behavior in multi-monitor mixed-DPI environments. I'm guessing Windows 7 may set it to the higher of the two -- err on the side of "too big", not "aaugh, I can't read anything!"
