Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core

Recent versions (> 1.0.2-0ubuntu10.3) of xserver-xorg-core available on dapper-updates repository break card detection of mga200 PCI board, where older versions (<= 1.0.2-0ubuntu10.1) work fine.

With the newer version, X -scanpci does not show the card any more but lspci always shows it. I suspect the recent PCI patch breaks the correct behaviour.

The buggy behaviour has been observed on two identical machines with integrated mga board and the following pci devices :

nct@lsn-linux1:~$ lspci
0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 440BX/ZX/DX - 82443BX/ZX/DX Host bridge (rev 03)
0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 440BX/ZX/DX - 82443BX/ZX/DX AGP bridge (rev 03)

0000:00:07.3 Bridge: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ACPI (rev 02)
0000:00:0f.0 USB Controller: NEC Corporation USB (rev 43)
0000:00:0f.1 USB Controller: NEC Corporation USB (rev 43)

0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G200 AGP (rev 03)

For now, I've reinstalled the old version of the package and put it on hold.

Have a nice day,

Steph
