I updated my Karmic yesterday and have a similar problem now. This was a fresh 64-bit Karmic install from about a week ago. I noted a couple things. First, nvidia module from NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.42-pkg2.run is not found ...

and then the flickering of the console filling up syslog with these ...
