Bug Description

Hey Support ,

I am not able to get resolution of my Monitor which is 1080P, I checked with the cables and its all good. I think drivers are causing this issue. Might need help with that.

Regards

This might be a driver bug or it might be a hardware problem.

In case it is a driver bug then I have assigned it to both the 'modeset' Xorg driver and the kernel 'i915' driver. Can you please boot a newer version of Ubuntu from USB and tell us if it has the same problem?

  19.10: http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/
  19.04: http://releases.ubuntu.com/19.04/

If this is a hardware problem then there are two possible causes I can think of:

* Poor VGA connection or cable. Can you try a different cable?

* Maybe the monitor does not support EDIDs, but unlikely.

summary: - Not able to get updated version of Driver
+ Stuck in 1024x768 resolution. Modeset can't detect VGA EDID on
+ Ivybridge.

Also, the attached UdevDb.txt shows i2c bus support on DisplayPort (and HDMI?) only.

If possible, please connect the monitor via DisplayPort or HDMI.

Daniel & Launchpad Janitor, Thanks for your response.

I am using HP workstation and checking drivers & changing display options doesn't solved the issue.

When I installed Manjaro using different hard SSD it gave me proper resolution.

Then I updated from 18.04 to 19.04, using updater option. It went to 18.10 first and then 19.04 & That solved the issue and now I am getting full resolution.

Thanks for your support and response. Community rocks.
