Bug Description

Ever since upgrading to 16.04 from 14.04 on my Lenovo x230 the HDMI output to a Benq W1070 is corrupted if run at 1920x1080 (native resolution). At 1280x720 the display looks fine. Looking at similar reports for other graphics cards it seems similar to cases when the frequency is too low. I've tested that the projector still works fine with the same cable and another computer. I've attached a photo of the kind of corruption that shows up on screen. It's mostly green/magenta pixels sprinkled across the screen.

Yes it sounds/looks like a signalling frequency problem if not a cable fault.

Check out bug 1606103 where some frequency problems with the modesetting driver are being investigated.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-standard-support on April 29, 2021.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported when using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.
