Bug Description

Enabled XMir (installed unity-system-compositor on a Saucy system) and booted. My system is a Lenovo T410s laptop in a dock connected to an external 2560x1440 monitor. I booted up with the laptop closed (internal panel off), and the login screen came up on the external monitor correctly. I logged in and the desktop came up in 1280x960 mode (*NOT* my monitor's native resolution). I opened up the Displays control panel, switched the monitor to its native 2560x1440 resolution and clicked apply. The screen went blank and I was dumped back to the login screen -- X apparently crashed.

The impact here is that XMir is unusable for me -- I'm definitely not running my monitor at a distorted 1280x960 mode when it should be doing 2560x1440! (And I guess I should mention that the normal X stack works perfectly for me)

XMir 1.0 (the old Xorg extension) is now deprecated and is not being maintained or fixed. It is replaced by the new 'Xmir' binary (package 'xmir') introduced in Ubuntu 15.10 wily.
