Bug Description

I have used this guide http://www.olli-ries.com/running-mir/ to install and try Mir on a notebook Asus K55VD. There is a problem with display brightness. The hotkeys (fn+F5 or F6) work but the brightness is always to the max.

Edit: Also if I install mir/xmir with the official repo (sudo apt-get install unity-system-compositor) there is same problem

I am experiencing issues with this same video card, my brightness is stuck on minimum brightness since upgrading to 13.10 (in 13.04 it was stuck on full brightness which was more usable)

I am using a Dell XPS 13 (1080p), if you need more details, let me know what you need and I will do my best to get you the details.

OK with a little playing around I found that when I use the function keys to adjust the brightness the screen doesn't update but will used that setting after a reboot. i.e. set brightness to minimum and reboot brightness = minimum, set brightness to maximum reboot brightness = maximum.

After a few reboots and some trial and error I got it at a comfortable brightness.

Hope this helps someone.
