Bug Description

If I close the lid of the notebook without external power, it goes into sleep state. However sometimes (but not always!) after resuming, X crashes, I only see everything disappear and lightdm screen can bee seen again, with sigsegv info in kernel message buffer (dmesg) etc. Note that crash is not instant: after resuming usually I work something like half a minute before crash happens.

Ok, now it happens too frequently, which renders my notebook unusable as I don't dare to suspend it: with more than 50% chance it will cause Xorg to crash after resuming. Eg my current output of dmesg contains these:

Mitten: interesting, you have different notebook (I have a lenovo thinkpad) but it seems the xorg backtracke is quite similar also the message in dmesg which is exactly having the same +1f3000 as in mine.

Probably it's a general bug affected the users of the same GPU, or so then?

Yes, we both seem to have integrated intel graphics.
I'll try to find my exact hardware:

$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller

$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep Chipset
...
[ 51567.553] (II) intel(0): Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) Pineview GM
...

So it seems I have an Intel Pineview GM.

Tried installing updated driver from

Didn't fix the problem.
Will try the edgers PPA next.

Edgers didn't help either.
I'll revert to the precise baseline.
