cnee does not record events under maverick

Bug Description

Binary package hint: xnee

I'm not sure if this is a bug in xnee or in xorg: gnee and cnee do not record any events under Ubuntu Maverick, whereas they work fine under Ubuntu Lucid.

I tried also the latest xnee release (version 3.07) from Under Lucid it is able to record events but under Maverick I do not see any event in the log.

I attached the output of cnee for both releases.

When you compare both outputs you see the following differences:

1) the following 2 lines appear only under Lucid:
Workaround: Creating context on data display instead of control
            You can ignore this message

2) moreover there are the following differences:

This is fixed in the coming release of GNU Xnee.

I can reproduce the behaviour you're describing (noting recorded) in Maverick with Xnee 3.07
With the latest CVS Head Xnee works again.

We have a Fedora build issue to sync with building on Debia/Ubuntu and then we'll go for relasing Xnee 3.08

If you want to test a late version of Xnee meanwhile, go for the latest non official dist:

Thank you very much! Using this version I get key events again.

The only problem I observe now is: when I press a key and release it immediately afterwards I get 3 key press events and 4 key release events (see output below). But I suppose this bug has to be filed in another issue.?

OK, version 3.10 provides more information about the keys and allows me to filter out those duplicates. Thanks.

However, in oneiric cnee seems to be removed. :(
