Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

As a vim user, I tried to change what my CapsLock key does today. So I went to System -> Preferences -> Keyboard, flipped to the Layouts tab and clicked on Layout Options. Under the heading "Caps Lock key behaviour" I activated "Make CapsLock and additional ESC".

Result: CapsLock now acts as an Escape key, but the real Escape key seems to no longer do anything.

This is on Ubuntu 9.04, using gnome-control-center 1:2.26.0-0ubuntu3.

affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) → xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu)

OK. It seems that a restart of the X-xerver is required to make this work. Perhaps a little alert would be nice that informs users of this fact?

Please scratch that last comment. It doesn't work whether you restart x or reboot the machine.
