Output from xev when pressing End:

KeyPress event, serial 31, synthetic NO, window 0x4800001,
    root 0x121, subw 0x0, time 621255844, (221,815), root:(226,840),
    state 0x0, keycode 115 (keysym 0x3c, less), same_screen YES,
    XKeysymToKeycode returns keycode: 94
    XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (3c) "<"
    XmbLookupString gives 1 bytes: (3c) "<"
    XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x4800001,
    root 0x121, subw 0x0, time 621255956, (221,815), root:(226,840),
    state 0x0, keycode 115 (keysym 0x3c, less), same_screen YES,
    XKeysymToKeycode returns keycode: 94
    XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (3c) "<"
    XFilterEvent returns: False

Of course >>> xmodmap -e 'keycode 115 = End' <<< fixes this, but this cannot be the correct solution.

It's the latest Jaunty from the repository, xserver-xorg-input-evdev=1:2.1.1-1ubuntu3

I'm experiencing the same bug, but in my case the output of xev is

KeyPress event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001,
    root 0x1a7, subw 0x0, time 6522841, (-212,-24), root:(570,1),
    state 0x0, keycode 115 (keysym 0xff20, Multi_key), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: True

KeyRelease event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001,
    root 0x1a7, subw 0x0, time 6522889, (-212,-24), root:(570,1),
    state 0x0, keycode 115 (keysym 0xff20, Multi_key), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

therefore mapping my End key to Multi_key.

I solved my problem, it was my mistake.
I had an old .Xmodmap in my home directory which was assigning some keys, including the "end" key.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

Sorry, I don't have the machine anymore, so cannot help with this.

Simos Xenitellis  (simosx) wrote :

Lenar, you would have needed to specify the laptop model.
The problem is related to the laptop. In this case, you specify details for the laptop in /lib/udev/keymaps.

Changed in xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → Invalid
Lenar (lenar) wrote :

The machine was a standard PC not laptop, and quite generic one.
With Intel desktop motherboard and Logitech UltraX USB keyboard (Estonian layout).
But as I said, I don't have it anymore.
