2007-05-20 02:52:54 Vikki Gaerlan description Running Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 laptop. Problem exists on both on-board and external keyboard. When i press the up, left or right arrow keys, a window pops up of a screenshot of the desktop, prompting me to save or cancel. The same thing happens when I hit Del Home PgUp PgDn and End. However, pressing the Windows Key and the corresponding above mentioned keys will work. If I forget to press the Windows key may system hangs with all the Take Screenshot popups that appear. Is there a way to make them work without the Windows Key press? I have tried setting System > Preferences > Keyboard > Layout Options > Misc Compatibility Options > Shift & Numpad keys work as in MS Windows, and it worked the first time I set it. However, after reboot the effect was gone, although the option was still selected. Running Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 laptop. However, after reboot the effect was gone, although the option was still selected. It functions intermittently. Sometimes the arrow keys work and then stop working after a reboot.

2008-11-07 00:49:29 Bryce Harrington xkeyboard-config: statusexplanation Thanks Nat. Everyone else - Unfortunately the title of this bug describes a generic symptom. We've found that these keys can break in a variety of interestingly different and unrelated (often hardware-specific) ways. So if you are having problems with arrow keys please file a NEW bug. @Vikki, please feel free to reopen if you still have this problem with Intrepid. Everyone else, please file a NEW bug and do not reopen this one.
