It seems to be Ubuntu related.

In the SF bugtracker nobody can confirm it, in the Gnome tracker nobody can
confirm it, too (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314695)

In Hoary the same bug appears.

This upload fixes the issue:

xine-lib (1.1.1-0ubuntu1) dapper; urgency=low

  * New Upstream Version
  * Based on upstream's packaging which is based on 1.0.1-1.3
  * Merge in 1.0.1-1.4 changes from Debian:
    + Fix bashism in debian/rules causing a FTBFS (Closes: #337996).
  * Merge in Ubuntu changes:
    + B-D on libxvmc-dev, libxv-dev, libmad0-dev
    + Don't depend on slang1
    + Rename libxine1 to libxine1c2 for C++ transition and do all relevant
      changes
    + Use external libmad
    + Add --with-xv-path=/usr/lib to configure
    - All source changes upstream
