Bug Description

Binary package hint: xfce4-xkb-plugin

Also mentioned here: http://wwww.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1356945 (Dec 2009)

Keyboarb switcher panel applet does not retain the keyboard I add during a normal Xfce session.

1) I added the keyboard applet to a panel
2) The applet stays put after restarts. Fine, normal.
3) I right-click it and go to Properties.
4) I Add a new keyboard layout (US wit Euro on 5).
5) Manage layout as Globally.
6) I close the properties window and go about my business. Great.
7) The keyboard switcher works as expected (i.e. really great tool).
8) I shutdown the computer and boot later.
9) I go to change my keyboard layout temporarily for my friend to type and BUG: There's only the single, original keyboard layout available. No switching. It's as if I never added the additional layout. I have to re-add it each time I log in...

Note: This bug is about the applet not storing the modified properties beyond the current session. Contrast with bug 540142, which is about the applet not showing up at all.

(Might still be dupes, but I just wanted to clarify the difference that I saw.)

Thanks!
