Hello and thanks for your report,

May you please tell me if you have installed Karmic in a virtual machine or in a real system, and, if it's in a virtual machine, whether or not you have activated sound support for this virtual machine ?

May you please attach the file "~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-mixer.xml" to the report ? And finally, if you launch "xfce4-mixer", does it open normally or does it trigger an error dialog ? If it opens normally, do you have at least one available sound card ?

Thanks in advance.

Hey there,

I have the same problem on Karmic Beta.
Im running on several real machines and had the problem also in Alpha 6.
xfce4-mixer launches w/ out problems and i do have several sound cards available.

I attached the requested files, maybe they help alswell.

So long

Hello,

I currently have no way to diagnose this bug. I'll try to soon make a version which allows logging activity to a file and ask you to run it so I can find out what's wrong exactly. Stay tuned please :)

I must say I completely forgot this bug... I currently have a patch that changes the whole key-binding library in xfce4-volumed, so once the next version is released, it may fix this bug. Alas, I'm currently not able to push it to the Git repository, so I can't release it yet.
