Bug Description
Hi,
I'd like to upload xfce4-volumed 0.2.0 to raring. It's a port to pulseaudio of the original xfce4-volumed which is gstreamer-based, and doesn't cope well with having Pulseaudio by default in Xubuntu (various problems to unmute, handle multiple cards, bluetooth devices, etc., cf. Bugs #990562, #970009, #883485). There's no difference feature-wise, with the exception of setting the default card (previously this has to be done through xfconf-query [command line], now this can be done with pavucontrol for example). Xubuntu already ships pavucontrol, so now xfce4-volumed will actually follow the "default sink" option.
This has been ready since the end of the precise cycle, but due to a lack of time it hadn't been uploaded yet (although has been tested since then on precise, quantal and raring -- I mean, it still works with pulseaudio 0.3.0).
The changelog is a bit pointless ("Initial port to pulseaudio", of course -- I can attach the full git log if needed). As a side effect it should fix the multiple memleaks, 100% cpu usages and crashes on login reported on lp.
The debian/changelog will be:
xfce4-volumed (0.2.0-0ubuntu1) raring; urgency=low
.
* New upstream release with pulseaudio support. lp: #883485, #970009, #990562
* debian/
* debian/rules:
- disable silent rules
- keep the program named xfce4-volumed so the change is invisible to the
users.
* Add a manpage. lp: #428023
* debian/control:
- build-depends on libpulse-dev instead of libgstreamer0.
- recommends pulseaudio instead of gstreamer.
It builds, installs and works fine.
This is a long-standing issue, so in the Xubuntu team we'd be grateful if the exception could be granted.
Thanks in advance.
(This can wait for after the beta1 freeze, since Xubuntu has opted to release it)
