Fresh HDD install of Xubuntu 8.04 confirms off-colors for all text inside window as well as boarders and double scroll-bars on right-hand side.

HP Pavilion N3290 laptop

lshw has "Silicon Motion SM710 LunxEM VGA compatible controller"

Worked ok under previous Xubuntu's

Using xterm for now... but cannot create launcher items for other programs that need to display inside terminal.
