Dual monitor configuration deficiencies

Bug #1534595 reported by arcasys on 2016-01-15

xfce4-settings (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Starting xubuntu 14.04 from the Live CD let me configure the second display and the display showed output.

Problem 1
After installing Xubuntu 14.04 on the HD and reboot the second monitor remained black no matter how it was configured in the settings dialog.
Configuration options are restricted for the second screen.
After changing the configuration 'manually' in the settings editor the second display shows output.

Problem 2
I need the second monitor positioned below the main monitor.
The touch driver obviously assumes the entire area of the two displays as touch area although only the main monitor is a touchscreen.
That means the cursor is widely off the touch point.

Calibration tools are not supplied. I installed x11-touchscreen-calibrator nor xinput-calibrator. Neither of them works.

Configuration details:

First monitor (DB1): HP 17'' Touchmonitor
Second Monitor (DVI-1.0) DisplayLink (USB HID) 7''

xrandr output:

Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1280 x 1624, maximum 32767 x 32767
