Bug Description

In past versions of Ubuntu, the XFCE sensors plugin worked. I just upgraded to Artful 17.10 and it does not work anymore. The problem seems to be that settings were lost and cannot be configured anymore. All I see on the panel is the word "Sensors" in bold. Double clicking that gives me a configuration dialog. My old settings are gone. I can change settings in the dialog, but after I close and re-open the dialog I always see the same settings, as if I made no changes. The weather plugin also lost settings when I upgraded to Artful, but after I configured it, the settings were remembered, even after a reboot.

I don't know of any way to make this work with the package from 17.10 / Artful, but installing the current 1.2.6-1 xfce4-sensors-plugin from 17.04 / Zesty makes the plugin work. No other changes were needed. With the plugin from Zesty the plugin output on the panel immediately changes when I change settings. I got it from: https://packages.ubuntu.com/zesty/amd64/xfce4-sensors-plugin/download

Does the version in 18.04 work properly (despite being the exact same 1.2.6-1 one again)?

Maybe I was confused. I was just setting up xfce4-sensors-plugin 1.3.0-2 Ubuntu 18.10 and noticed something. When I double-click on the plugin it opens "Sensors Viewer". If I want to reconfigure the plugin I need to right click on it and select "Properties". This opens "Sensors Plugin".

The confusing thing is that "Sensors Viewer" looks a lot like "Sensors Plugin" configuration. It even has "Show" checkboxes for the various temperatures, which makes it seem as if toggling those checkboxes should have some effect on the plugin.

If I use the correct dialog for configuring the plugin, then I am able to reconfigure it and the configuration is saved properly.

It is quite possible that version 1.3.0 looks and behaves differently, because the plugin code was ported to GTK3 with some changes here and there.

If you have any suggestions for further improvement, I suggest that you contact the plugin developer directly:
