Thanks for reporting this bug. Research shows upstream is aware of the need to assign Print Screen key to the Xfce-screenshooter-plugin. Please see these bugs: http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2002 and http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2542 .

WORKAROUND: Add Xfce-screenshooter-plugin to the panel by right-click an empty space on the panel, left-click 'Add New Item', left-click 'Screenshot'. To capture the screen print, left-click on the 'Screenshot' icon on the panel. This will screen print the entire screen.

Tanks for feedback, My issue was about menus + screenshooter for this plugin.

This workaround does not work for me, please do following steps to check:
0. Add Screenshooter plugin to panel (even with horizontal panel does not work)
1. open Firefox(or any application).
2. open menu "Bookmarks"
3. move mouse to screenshooter icon on the panel. Menu is still open.
4. Click over screenshooter icon.

Detected: Menu was closed, no actioning from screenshooter. Screnshooter's hit is appeared. Focus is still in FireFox because I can press Ctrl+L to go to location TextField.

Expected: I do not know, I think is normal matter of loosing focus and menu is closed.

The problem with menu is fixed in 1.4.9x, I will normaly release 1.5.0 next week and ask for a backport to Intrepid. Concerning the kebinding, distros should set it themselves for now as there is no easy way to do that at the moment in a clean way.

This is not really a bug in xfce4-screenshooter. AIUI, firefox is grabbing the keyboard, so keypresses aren't passed to the shortcut manager. People will have to do "complicated screenshots" using a delay in xfce4-screenshooter (or the mouse).

Xubuntu 9.10

this problem is related not only for FireFox, but to any application. Could we open bug for something like WindowManager ?

Case:
1. Run Terminal
2. Open Menu View and Try to make print screen(Pressing key "PrintScreen") - no effect.
3. close menu - Print screen works fine.

Please reopen this bug. There is a regression in xubuntu 11.04

If any popup menu is shown on the xfce panel, such as Places menu, or the context menu of the panel of any plugin, pressing PrintScreen or Alt+PrintScreen won't do anything.

If any application menu item is displayed, pressing PrintScreen or Alt+PrintSceen will first hide the menu and then make a screenshot of the application window. There is no way to screen capture the menus with the shotcuts.

This bug was originally reported against Xfce 4.4. Xfce 4.8 used in Natty Narwhal, Xubuntu 11.04, is almost a complete re-write. Please file a new bug against the screenshooter. You can file that bug using ubuntu-bug xfce4-screenshooter-plugin. Please comment with this bug number if you want to. This will give the developers opportunity to determine the cause of the failure. Thanks in advance.
