strange characters in battery name

The name of the battery has characters not rendered properly. See the attached screenshot.

The power manager gets the battery-name strings from UPower, so I'm not sure there is much we can do about it...
That said, what version of UPower is that?

Ok. There's only one battery and it is glued in anyway. :( So it's not going to be confusing as a result of the displayed name.

Could you please run the following two commands in a terminal? That would help us to narrow down the issue.

First, run:
upower --enumerate

That will give you the path of the battery-device. Then run:
upower -i /path/to/battery

And then paste the output here please. Thanks!

As exposed by the terminal output in comment #5, the problem is in upower, not in xfce4-power-manager.
