Hi Jonathan
Thanks for info about the bug. I read this but I don't know how to use this
info.
Will it helps when I uninstall the package "xfce4-places-plugin".
But my Linux (Ubuntu 9.04) freezes about 2-3 minutes after each boot. And
not only Ubuntu, but every Linux I have (older Ubuntus, Puppy Linux,
sometimes SysrescCD; I run it from Live-CD)

best regards
Zwieferl

Dear Zwieferl,

Maybe you're experiencing some RAM problems. Worth check your PC's memory
running MEMTEST, so next time you start/reboot your PC, choose the option in
boot menu.

Hi Bremm
Thanks for the tip - but I did it 3 times, I changed the RAM, I tested the
new one with memtest - the same: Each linux freezes after 2-3 minutes
(Ubuntu) or more (puppy-live after about 30 minutes; Ubuntu without login in
gdm but only on tty freezes after about 40 minutes - yesterday: I did
nothing. After login on tty1 I watched TV and when I return to the PC I
could just type SysRQ "REISUB" [?]
By the way: Windows is still working !!!(Why???)

Now I think I understood: if you have an NVIDIA card, try the NV driver
instead of proprietary or the nouveau. I had problems with latest nouveau
and latest BLOB from PPA. Actually I'm running the 185 (proprietary)
version.

Feel free to contact me by e-mail regarding this issue.

Cheers

Hi Bremm
No, Idon't have Nvidia card. I have ATI RV370 5B60 [Radeon X300 (PCIE)].
A further, maybe interesting detail: About 2 weeks ago I tried to install
Ubuntu completely new -> it freezes, when I put in my dates - before it
starts to install. I tried it 2 times.
I have posted this problem at
http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/hilfe-system-unmittelbar-nach-start-von-gdm-k/,
It is in german (after visiting your hp I think you are from Brasil),
but
I have added some log-files. If you have time to make a look, maybe you'll
find the reason of my probs. Till now nobody could help me and I have to use
Windows, because it works.

best greetings from Vienna
Zwieferl
