Bug Description

Binary package hint: xfce4-panel

I burned the latest 9.10 Xubuntu Live CD. Checked Memory and the CD before trying to install. The first installation stopped suddenly with an excuse. So I restarted (cleaning, defrag. and another load station). Started a try-out of the CD and discovered that the indicated time was not correct (one hour to early, could not change in this trial mode), than the program crashed again suddenly with an excuse and was gone. So I still do not have Xubuntu. Where did I go wrong? Sorry I am a beginner.

Thanks for reporting this bug. Perhaps you would have better luck installing from the Xubuntu alternate cd instead of the desktop cd. It appears the desktop cd for Xubuntu 9.10 has some serious issues that are unresolved at the present time. For a better trial cd, I would have to suggest the Xubuntu 9.04 Desktop/live cd, available from http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/9.04/release/ . This release has been available for six months and does not have the issues you are experiencing.

Thanks for helping to improve Xubuntu.

I did so and installed the alternative version; it worked OK; but now I have
to tackel the partition and try through repository actions to get my old HP
OfficeJet R45 (scanner part) to come into action. Lots of work but
interesting for me as a non-expert. Thanks Hins Pesman for the 22-members
