with Xubuntu 14.04 installed, no change at the bluetooth icon with status enabled or disabled. It doesn't seem related to the icon style.

It seems also that this particular problem was seen since the introduction of blueman-applet 1.23, which is the current in xubuntu 14.04. http://kissmyarch.blogspot.it/2011/10/blueman-applet-with-missing-icon.html

affects: indicator-bluetooth (Ubuntu) → xfce4-panel (Ubuntu)
