Bug Description

The problem is:
The cursor jumps to the left or right bottom corner area of the screen, and often generates also a click by itself, when I do not use the pen.

Why is this important?
Sometimes this happens so often that it is not possible to move the cursor away from the corner area, therefore it is really annoying, and first priority for me.

Cause of the problem:
The device that causes the cursor to jump is the Serial Wacom Tablet Eraser. I found this out by setting up two cursors and reattaching only the eraser to the second one.
If I put the pen near the screen, so it catches the cursor, then the jump does not happen. The jump happens only when the pen is not in use.

Problem history:
I experience this problem since installing Jaunty, and then in Karmic, and Lucid also. It did not occur in Feisty and Gutsy.
The problem is not related to any other visible behavior (like CPU activity). In the beginning it tended to occur when I was browsing websites with Java and or Flash contents, but this later proved to be not related, as the problem occurred at any time and at any conditions. (Except, when using the pen.)

Machine details:
HP Compaq TC4400 tablet PC.

I get the same behavior but from "Serial Wacom Tablet touch" - but only going to (almost) bottom left corner - would guess coordinates are (50,50), clicking is continuous about every half second.
Pen working without a problem. Working on HP EliteBook 2740p.

I have for now disabled device with

After a change of motherboard and screen I still got the problem. For this reason I believed more than ever, that it is a software problem. But I had to test it, for my warranty is about to expire, so I installed a Windows7 on the poor notebook.
Now I can honestly say that it is a _hardware_ problem, because the same thing happens under windows too.
