Can't type Cyrillic characters in Wine

Using Ubunto 10.4 and Wine 1.1.42, but unable to type in Cyrillic.

Tried the following locale:

What output 'xev' produces when you try to type in cyrillic?

This indicates a broken X11 locale setup. Please consult your distro
support how to fix that. Once xev starts work, cyrillic input should
start working in Wine as well.
