Bug Description

I have installed xcp-xapi on Ubuntu Precise. I want to use it to host some Windows guests. I am using Citrix XenCenter (6.0.2) on windows as a client.

I am able to view the console of the guest, but I am unable to send any keystrokes. This means that it is impossible to log in to the guest.

Same here; trying to install an Ubuntu VM, but stuck at the graphical "Installer boot menu."

I notice that my cursor changes to a dot (like I would usually see in VNC) when I hover over the console, but I'm unable to actually issue any keystrokes or mouse clicks to the console.

if this is how it will help - when you press a key in the logs ( /var/log/xcp-xapi.log), the following occurs:

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Hi,

While XenCenter doesn't work, OpenXenManager does, so you can use that for the console.

Hi,

I don't agree it really is *ON* topic. OpenXenManager is in both Debian and Ubuntu, while XenCenter is not. More over, XenCenter is for a non-free platform, so why should I care? Or is there a XenCenter for Linux? I don't think so.

As the maintainer of Xen-API in Debian, I care more about what is in the distribution than what isn't. And I care even less for software that doesn't even has a version for Unix.

Last thing, such problem would be better reported to Citrix directly. As the package maintainer, I can't do much about such upstream problem anyway (unless I am given a patch to apply).
