Bug Description

Binary package hint: xdm

I'm using xdm at startup for login.

When I'm login, I can't use my keyboard in my windows manager, but the mouse works.

I have to /etc/init.d/xdm restart and re-login to use my keyboard on my windows manager.

I tried with several windows manager, I have the same problem.

Thanks for the bug! I just had this reported as an issue from a friend of mine, confirmed and duplicated.

Thanks for your contribution to Ubuntu!

i am the dude of which paul talked and i solved the problem by removed ecryptfs of my $HOME. i was running natty before on an 'older' machine and didnt had ecryptfs on that machine neither, so that might be a good indicator of where the problemm is...

Hey wlallemand,

You filed this bug report against natty, but I see it's still open and
doesn't appear to have much activity recently. So, now that oneiric
is released and stable, this may be a good point for you to upgrade
and re-test if this issue is still present there.

If it's solved in the new release and you think it's worth backporting
the fix, please indicate that. Or if having the fix in the new release
is good enough, feel free to close out the bug (or let us know and we'll
close it.)

If it's not solved, leave the bug report open. I can't promise we'll
get to it (we get way more bugs filed than we can usually get to), but
your testing and feedback can help out if and when we do.

Hi Bryce,

The version of XDM has not changed, and the issue has been worked out in this thread.

I'm pushing back to triage'd. I'll lower the severity, though.

I've still got the same issue (Oneiric). I'm using XDM and EvilWM.

As a work around, what I do is:

  - Alt+Ctrl+F1
  - login
  - /etc/init.d/xdm restart
  - login via XDM
  - kill the F1 console

I think the encryption is correct. By logging in via a console and then restarting XDM, it sees the unencrypted home directory and carries on.
