xdg-open fails on file:/// urls with query parameter

Bug Description

The following command:

$ xdg-open file:///home/samth/sw/plt/doc/search/index.html?q=foo

fails with the error:

gvfs-open: file:///home/samth/sw/plt/doc/search/index.html%3Fq=foo: error opening location: Error stating file '/home/samth/sw/plt/doc/search/index.html?q=foo': No such file or directory

whereas:

$ firefox file:///home/samth/sw/plt/doc/search/index.html?q=foo

opens the browser properly.
