Querying default application for given mime type is slow

Binary package hint: xdg-utils

"xdg-mime query default image/png" takes more than 20 seconds to give me "kuickshow.desktop" (without cold caches)!

I'm attaching an strace of "strace -tt -F -oxdg-mime.strace.log xdg-mime query default image/png".
