Fails to set transparency when started by session mgr.

When x-chat is started by the session manager, it looks like it might be started
up before the window manager, and claims that the WM doesn't support the
transparency option. It also then disabled the transparency preference in the
preferences.

I suspect that the right thing is for it to notice that there isn't a window
manager running at all at that point and then try again in 2 or 3 seconds.

Hi Jeff,
I am closing this bug as there has been no activity for an extended period.
You could try to schedule xchat to start later in the session manager. I hope that works for you.

How to reproduce:

1. Open xchat
2. Menu > Settings > Preferences > Interface > Text box
3. Tick "Transparent background"
4. Click "OK"
5. A window pops up. It says: "Unable to set transparent background! You may be using a non-compliant window manager that is not currently supported."
6. Transparent background is not set.

Architecture: amd64
Distro release: Ubuntu 10.10
Package: xchat 2.8.8-1 ubuntu1
Package architecture: amd64

I tried it on Natty beta 2 and it is working fine. Do you still have this problem?

This is not an issue in Natty 11.04 final x64, I think this can be closed

I have this problem in Kubuntu 12.10 , seems a specific Xchat in KDE problem
no problems in Unity session
