Bug Description

Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

After joining a bunch of recommended ubuntu channels, I notice xchat-gnome exhibits a noticeable 4-5 second lag when switching from channel to channel. When subscribed to less than 6 channels, switching feels snappy (less than a second), but after joining 8 freenode channels and a couple channels on 3 other servers, I notice this problem.

I did not see this bug already listed in launchpad or on xchat-gnome's bug tracker.

A bit more info..

Switching between windows that have not received any content since the last time they were viewed occurs immediately. Lag is only present for windows that have not been viewed in a while.

I haven't confirmed this, but it appears that channels with short names (less than 8-10 characters) lag less often than channels with long names. However, this could be due to differences in how much unread content the channel has.

I don't confirm that, I've around 20 chans used and no lag. Marking low importance, it looks like a minor one
