xawtv crash "no overlay support" since upgrade to 8.10

hi, I'm including the output here.

I'm having this problem with a TV tuner, "Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1800", not a camera.

what I'm getting reads:

/dev/video0 [v4l2]: no overlay support
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway

I got rid of the Warning by installing the fonts.

video card is nvidia fx5500

the tuner tv is hauppauge wintv usb(1)

(i came back to hardy causes this issue for some time )

im on intrepid again and it seems bugged as before ...

I'll marking as confirmed here. Probably we need to look also in the kernel modules as may be involved.
