Spatialite-gui causes system lockup in Lubuntu

Spatialite-gui version 2.0.0, is available from the DebianGIS repositories. The application works as expected in Ubuntu and Xubuntu 16.04 (in Virtualbox VM's). However in Lubuntu 16.04, whenever trying to resize the window, the system becomes unresponsive and locks up. A hard reset is required to reboot the VM.

It is possible to minimize, then restore the Spatialite-gui window without problem, but every attempt to maximize or resize (by dragging corners) causes the lockup.

The developer of Spatialte suggests: "cause should be possibly related to a buggish porting of wxGTK3"

This issue is specific to Lubuntu: the same application on Debian, Fedora, and other versions of Ubuntu 16.04 do not have the problem.

spatialite-gui works correctly in other DEs, wxGTK seems to be buggy on LXDE.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. If you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect 1587741

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

I have setup a new virtual machine on a windows host running lubuntu 18.04 beta. Then I installed spatialite-gui. The above problem with resizing the window has disappeared. I've taken the liberty to set status to fixed.
