Bug Description

Binary package hint: wammu

There is no toolbar in Wammu 0.33-1 (Maverick), so the program is unusable for any task.

See related thread on Ubuntu forums for screenshots http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1606948

As there was no change on Wammu side, I believe this is bug in wxwidgets, which is different (2.8.11 vs 2.8.10). Looking at 2.8.11 news I fail to see any change which could be causing this behavior.

affects: wammu (Ubuntu) → wxwidgets2.8 (Ubuntu)

I don't know if it is related, but I have a custom setup of Eclipse 3.6 under Ubuntu 10.10 and sometimes the Eclipse menu bar disappears as well. However opening a contextual menu makes it reappear again. The same setup did not show this behavior under Ubuntu 10.04. Btw, as I mentioned above, I'm affected by this bug on Wammu as well.

Further update on this bug:

I have two machines, both running Ubuntu 10.10 Amd64. One of them is affected by this bug, while on the other the Wammu menu bar shows correctly.

Please find attached a list of the installed packages on both machines, hope this helps in investigating the cause.

Regards,
Leonardo

I managed to solve the issue on by box removing the package "appmenu-gtk", which apparently is causing some problems.
Hope this helps!

I can confirm that installing appmenu-gtk-0.1.9-0ubuntu4.1 causes wammu's menu dissapear. Just a note that appmenu-gtk is dependency for indicator-appmenu which I've installed in first place.

I am on ubuntu 12-04 /64 having said problem with missing menu in wammu.
I managed to solve the issue by removing the package "appmenu-gtk", hope, not to run into other problems by this "solution".
