I can confirm this behavior on amd64 as well. The full error is:

Setting up openoffice.org-writer2latex (0.5-6) ...
Adding extension /usr/lib/openoffice/share/extension/install/writer2latex.uno.pkg...
unopkg failed.
dpkg: error processing openoffice.org-writer2latex (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

This should be fixed for 8.04.1.

Changed in writer2latex:
importance: Undecided → High
milestone: none → ubuntu-8.04.1
status: New → Confirmed

This can't easily be fixed due to unopkg being a big mess, there are open bugs in upstream OOo that unopkg needs to be completely rewritten since it is so bad.

I can confirm it on PowerPC. Would it be possible to remove writer2latex from the openoffice.org meta package as a work-around until the unopkg problem is fixed?
